INSTALLMENT COST GUIDE

Buy Now, Pay Later Cost Calculator

Installments make one purchase look like several smaller decisions. The useful number is the full amount still owed across every plan—not only the next payment.

Worked example

Four $75 payments total $300. At $20 of take-home pay per hour, the purchase costs 15 work hours. Three plans with $75 payments due at once require $225 from the same paycheck.

Total every remaining installment

List the amount and due date of each payment across every provider. Include fees or interest instead of relying on the advertised first-payment amount.

Check payment overlap

Place installments on a calendar beside rent, utilities, food, and debt payments. Several affordable plans can become unaffordable when their dates overlap.

Test the full price

Run the total purchase price through the calculator. If the full commitment is not worth the working time, smaller payments do not improve the tradeoff.
