RECURRING COST GUIDE

Subscription Cost Calculator

A small monthly charge can feel harmless because the decision is separated from the annual total. Combining subscriptions and converting them to work time restores the full picture.

Worked example

Subscriptions totaling $74 per month cost $888 per year. At $20 of take-home pay per hour, that is 44.4 hours of work—more than a standard workweek each year.

List every recurring charge

Check cards, app stores, bank statements, and annual renewals. Include cloud storage, memberships, software, news, gaming, and services bundled through another provider.

Convert everything to one period

Monthly price × 12 gives the annual cost. Divide that total by your real take-home hourly pay to get the annual work hours.

Cancel by value, not guilt

Keep the subscriptions you use and value. Look first for duplicates, forgotten trials, overlapping features, and services that are difficult to remember using.
